Selected Papers & Formal Work

This archive presents selected formal work developed by David Fleming within the framework of

Recursive Field Theory (RFT).

Foundations of the Work

The papers collected here represent key stages in the development of the theory —from foundational models of consciousness and meaning, through selfhood and biological recursion, to more recent work on constraint geometry and integration.

This is not an exhaustive archive. It is a curated entry point into the formal structure underlying the applied work.

HOW TO READ THIS ARCHIVE

These papers are provided for readers who value rigor, depth, and formal structure. They are theoretical, exploratory, and written to establish internal coherence.

  • Theoretical rather than instructional

  • Exploratory rather than prescriptive

  • Written to establish internal coherence, not to persuade

You do not need to read these papers to engage with the public-facing work. They exist to make the depth, seriousness, and continuity of the framework visible.

FOUNDATIONAL PAPERS

The formal architecture of RFT established through key structural proofs.

Recursive Field Theory of Consciousness

Establishes the core framework of RFT, modelling consciousness as an emergent recursive field

rather than a static property or computational output.

Recursive Field Theory of Selfhood

Reframes identity as a stabilised configuration of recursive meaning, rather than a fixed narrative or

trait-based construct.

Biological Recursion and Adaptive Coherence

Explores how recursive organisation governs biological adaptation, linking physiology, perception, and meaning within a unified framework.

Constraint, Closure, and Orientation

Formalises orientation as a governing principle of coherent experience, explaining why loss of direction produces fear, fragmentation, and entropy.

Sub-space and Cosmological Emergence

Introduces models of sub-space and cosmological emergence, including Planck-scale closure principles, linking physical coherence with biological and subjective organisation.

INTEGRITY STATUS

Spine of the work fully established and cross-validated.

ADVANCED AND DEVELOPING WORK

Recursive Constraint Geometry of Selfhood (RCGS)

A formal model describing how identity, suffering, and integration arise through constraint geometry. Distress is reframed as structural constraint distortion rather than narrative failure or pathology, providing a rigorous basis for stabilisation and integration.

Additional papers explore:

  • Recursive meaning formation

  • Attractor dynamics and coherence

  • field-based stabilisation processes

  • ethical constraints in applied field work

This body of work continues to evolve.

RELATIONSHIP TO APPLIED WORK

The research presented here underpins the Coherence Insight Engine (CIE), public insight instruments, practitioner training (RHM), and ongoing experimental and applied projects.

"The theory did not precede the work. It emerged through sustained engagement with lived human experience."

ACCESS AND USE

These papers are shared to support:

  • intellectual transparency

  • interdisciplinary dialogue

  • research collaboration

  • practitioner education

They are not intended for diagnostic, therapeutic, or medical use.

CONTINUING RESEARCH

Current work includes:

simulation of recursive coherence models

investigation of constraint dynamics across domains

experimental use of large language models to explore substrate-neutral claims of RFT

development of applied tools that support long-term coherence

Selected projects are outlined separately.

This archive exists to make the structure visible

- not to replace direct experience of the work.

Orientation precedes order. Order precedes clarity.

Clarity allows us to build something honest.
