Meet David Fleming

David Fleming’s work is concerned with one central question:
how clarity, meaning, and effective action return when orientation is restored.

Across personal work, practitioner training, and research, his focus is consistent — to understand

how experience organises, why it fragments, and how coherence can be re-established without

pressure, prescription, or reduction.

Orientation First

Much of modern personal development focuses on behaviour, motivation, or performance.

David’s work begins earlier.

When orientation is lost — when direction, meaning, or closure become unclear — effort fragments and capability disperses. Fear, doubt, burnout, and confusion are not failures in this context; they are natural responses to loss of orientation.

"Restoring orientation changes everything that follows."

Clarity stabilises. Performance integrates. Action becomes intelligent rather than reactive.

How The Work Developed

This work did not begin as a theory. It emerged through years of direct engagement with people navigating:

sustained stress and burnout, identity disruption, chronic uncertainty or fear, physical and emotional adaptation under pressure.

Across this work, recurring structural patterns became visible

— patterns that could not be explained adequately through narrative, diagnosis, or technique alone.

Rather than treating these experiences as problems to be fixed, David approached them as coherence questions:

  • How is meaning organising?

  • Where has orientation been lost?

  • What conditions allow clarity to return?

Over time, these inquiries gave rise to a formal framework.

THEORY AS STRUCTURE, NOT IDENTITY

The formal body of work underpinning this approach is known as Recursive Field Theory (RFT),

with the Coherence Insight Engine (CIE) as its applied interpretive framework.

"The theory exists to support the work — not to replace it. You do not need to understand RFT to benefit from engaging with David’s work."

Those who value rigor and structure can explore it separately. Links to the formal framework, research archive, and active research programs are provided for

transparency and context.

APPROACH

His approach focuses on:

  • Restoring orientation before action

  • Clarifying structure beneath experience

  • Allowing meaning to reorganise naturally

  • Respecting the intelligence of adaptation

David does not work by:

  • Imposing interpretation

  • Directing behaviour

  • Prescribing solutions

  • Overriding adaptive responses

This orientation-first stance allows clarity, creativity, and contribution to emerge cleanly and sustainably

RFT & PRACTITIONERS

David is the founder of the RFT Institute, a research and education body dedicated to the formal development and ethical application of Recursive Field Theory.

Through the Institute, he teaches RHM, the first professional practitioner application of RFT — a structured, field-based methodology for working with human suffering and adaptation beneath cognition.

Practitioner training is selective, grounded, and carefully constrained.

"Across all of this, the aim remains the same: to build something honest — where clarity replaces confusion, and coherence replaces fragmentation."

Orientation precedes order. Order precedes clarity.

Clarity allows us to build something honest.
